A Pap Smear is a quick, routine screening that checks for abnormal cells on the cervix that can cause cervical cancer if left untreated.
It is typically done during a pelvic exam and takes just a few minutes. Regular Pap Smears are one of the most effective tools for preventing cervical cancer.
HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is the most common STI and can cause genital warts as well as certain cancers.
The Gardasil vaccine protects against the most harmful strains of HPV and is available at Tapestry for adolescents and adults up to age 45.
Regular Pap Smears can also track HPV infections and prevent cancer from developing.
Most HPV infections do not develop into cancer.
If a screening returns an abnormal result, your clinician will walk you through the next steps, treatment options, and referrals as needed, including referrals for colposcopy if indicated.
